Boy says …
Darien, Growing-Up|
Taken during one of the days when I had to send Boy to school and when we are early. I would let them play in the park for awhile before dropping him at school. Princess was not in uniform cos she’s in the afternoon session.
Scene 1
While I was driving the kids home, my phone rang. It was my mom. We chatted awhile and hung up.
Boy: What is Popo (granny) doing?
Me: She’s cleaning up.
Boy: So late clean up .. ask Popo to sleep la.
He’s a little monster most of the time but at times he can be sweet as an angel. Sometimes when the kids are having a meal. They have both equal share of food. He would offer to Princess her favourite dish although its his favourite, too. And he would say, “I give to Jiejie cos I love her”. Ah that’s really sweet of him.
Scene 2
I bought a new balinese long bench in the hall. I put it at a corner and Boy was playing a mini motorbike around the area.
Me: Can you please don’t play around here. What happens if you accidentally bang onto my new bench?
Boy: Is it expensive.
Me: Yes its very expensive.
Boy: Mommy cannot buy expensive things.
Ooo … my son so young is teaching me how to use money wisely.
Scene 3
I have a tendency to miss a turn when I’m busy talking in the car. One fine day when I was sending the kids home, I was talking to Princess, then Boy told me “Mommy don’t talk afterwards you lose your way”. Hahaha. I couldn’t stop laughing. And he remained serious. If I’m singing, he would say “Mommy don’t sing afterwards you lose your way”. Sigh sigh this boy ah. So young he’s already naggy.
Scene 4
Sometimes if he can’t find the word to express something, he would invent it himself. For example, he was telling me how Princess sprained her ankle but didn’t know the word sprain.
Boy: Mommy you know what happened to Jiejie’s (sister) leg? She run run step on the ground then he leg “kanta” already.
Me: Kanta? What is kanta? Do you mean sprain?
Boy: Yea sprain already.
Scene 5
He had a lose tooth. My niece and nephew told him that the fairy tooth will visit him when it drops off. I blogged about his supposedly permanent tooth turned out to be extra tooth. When he woke up the next morning ..
Me: Boy, did the tooth fairy visit you last night?
Boy: No Mommy. No tooth fairy. (He must be expecting glowing lights)
Me: You go up and have a look under your pillow.
Boy: He came to me excited. See Mommy I got ten dollars.
Me: Do you know who is the tooth fairy?
Boy: *looking puzzled*
Me: Its Mommy. (I don’t want to lie to him. When he finds out the truth he would be disappointed. And there is no reason to lie, he was brave all the way)
Boy: Did Mommy put on Jiejie’s fairy clothes?
