After tooth extraction …
Darien, Growing-Up|I had an appointment fixed for Boy earlier at 3pm. Upon reaching there, he was given a sedative tablet. We waited for about 40 mins before putting him on the dental chair and guess what! He’s still wide awake. I was told by the doctor if he has got no response from the sedative tablet, they will still try to remove the tooth but if its really not possible he would have to go thru a full GA in a hospital before extraction. He was given shots on the area around both teeth. I was totally heartbroken but that’s the only way to remove it without surgery. The doc took a few attempts to finish the whole syringe of medication. Halfway thru it, he felt some numbness on his lip and it was totally swollen. He asked ‘why is my mouth like that’ in such a comical way that made me laugh. His face looking surprised and confused. When he was completely numb, the doc took an instrument that look somewhat like a screwdriver. In my heart I was thinking ‘What! Are you gonna stuff that screwdriver look alike thingy into my son’s mouth?!!’ My heart almost died. It was a bit prying here and there, use an instrument that look like pliers to pull out the extra tooth first. I gasped in horror upon seeing the extra tooth – looked so big and pointed. Its buried so deep into his bone. Boy was so brave the whole time. When all was done, I bought him a magazine as promised. When its bedtime, I helped him brush his teeth and all of a sudden her blurted out “Mommy just now the doctor use something to poke my mouth … so painful you know!”.
I wanted to take a video of the whole process but thought it was a bit gross and would cause panic in him so I decided not to. Anyhow, I snapped some ‘after extraction’ pics. Looks like we’re gonna have him ‘one-tooth less’ for awhile after all he’s only just turned 5.
